Seeing "Windows protected your PC"?

That blue box is normal for new software. Here's what it means and how to install in 10 seconds.

Why this appears

Windows SmartScreen shows this message for any installer that is new to Microsoft's reputation system — which every recently released application is, until enough people have installed it. It is not a virus detection; it means "I don't know this publisher yet".

Why you can trust AuditMitra: it processes everything offline on your PC — no taxpayer data is uploaded anywhere; the installer is downloadable only from our official link; and every release's SHA-256 checksum is published with the release so you can verify the file is exactly the one we shipped.

Installing past the SmartScreen box

  1. When the blue "Windows protected your PC" box appears, click More info.
  2. The publisher line and a Run anyway button appear. Click Run anyway.
  3. Setup starts normally — follow the usual Next → Install steps.

If Microsoft Defender flags the download

  1. Open Windows Security → Virus & threat protection → Protection history.
  2. Select the AuditMitra entry and choose Allow on device / Restore.

Verify your download (optional, for the careful)

In PowerShell: Get-FileHash AuditMitra_Setup_1.0.0.exe — the output must match the SHA-256 checksum included in your download email with each release.

On an office PC that blocks unsigned software entirely?

Some department machines enforce policies that no "Run anyway" can override. In that case install on a personal/standalone PC, or contact us at hello@opifex.in — we're collecting these reports to prioritise code-signing.
